The Detroit Lions will have a representative from their coaching staff in attendance, with defensive assistant Shaun Dion Hamilton overseeing the American team's defensive backs.
The Lions' scouts and coaches should have their eyes peeled for these four players:
- Christopher Smith, DB from Georgia
- Smith worked his way from special teams to a starting safety position, excelling in the role with five tackles for loss, five passes defended, and a team-leading three interceptions last season.
- He is viewed as a versatile safety/nickel defender that could fill Will Harris' role if the Lions don't re-sign him.
- Kyu Blu Kelly, Cornerback from Stanford
- Kelly was one of the top corners in the Pac-12 his junior year with two interceptions and 11 passes defended.
- Despite not working with Hamilton, he is worth keeping an eye on as his playstyle and demeanor make him a good fit for the Lions' system.
- Kenny McIntosh, RB from Georgia
- With D'Andre Swift's continued injury issues, McIntosh could be a future option at running back for the Lions. He has a similar skill set to Swift but is a bigger and more physical runner.
- McIntosh's elite pass-catching abilities would make him a valuable rotational player for the Lions without a high draft price.
- Nick Broeker, Guard against Ole Miss
- The Lions have questions about their right guard position, and Broeker could be a great option for depth in 2023.
- He is a talented athlete that has played multiple sports and positions, with a 4.90 time in the 40-yard dash. While he needs to improve his technique, his athleticism makes him a threat.
